Midnight in Cookie

Nothing says "Paris" like an Iced Venti red eye and a cookie:

The longest show ever has taken its toll and there's not a Pain au Chocolat in this entire town that could match the regenerative powers of this gooey, chocolate chip bit of yumminess from the Starbucks around the corner.

Cookiegate

Just got back from a week of fittings in Italy and came across this little tidbit of "news":

While standard journalists are bound to some code of politeness, feigned respect, and objective reporting, I make clothes and blog about cookies, so I'm just going to say it:  this guy is both a cookie-hater and kind of a dick.

Sunset Cookie

Gabe and I hit Tower Bar last night and were pleasantly surprised with a special offering by the inimitable Dmitri on our way out, who kindly took a minute out of his busy night to sit down and talk to the Cookie Blog about, well:

No, you're the coolest, D.  Thanks for the tasty treats.

The Cookie Games

Interesting development in the studio kitchen last week:

Not one but TWO intern cookie submissions.  We seem to have a little competition on our hands.  In one corner, we have Cissy of the Lego Head Clan:

Cissy sells seashells by the seashore.  She's also a terrific intern and notable baker.  Cissy's been with us for quite some time and couldn't seem happier about it, or life in general for that matter.  For example, I asked her to put her meanest game face on for that picture and look where we got.

In the opposite corner, there's:

Wait, what's that guy's name again?  KIDDING, it's Robert Jason Johnny.  Johnny hails from a place where farro and oats run free, and where gluten is evil and refined sugar has no rightful place.  Despite this, the guy can actually bake and I hear is quite an effective intern all in all.

Tough call, but Round 1 goes to Cissy.  I have a soft spot for soft spots, and the raw ratio on those Maple Sugars was near perfection.

Ask not what your Cookie can do for you...

A cookie sensation is sweeping the nation, folks.  Cookie plates are popping up at fancy foodie restaurants from coast to coast.  And while this humble cookie blogger wouldn't even begin to take credit for this phenomenon - the cookie is the medium and the message, of course - a little investigative reporting at Ammo with my buddies David and Kevin the other night revealed that we're indeed doing our part right here in Los Angeles.

When the cookie plate arrived, I pressed my boy Paul for some answers about the freshman addition to the menu:

What's that Paul?

Girl Scout Season 2012: The Return of the Cookie Blog

It's been a busy year, cookie lovers.  I'll spare you the sob story.  Needless to say I've had plenty of cookies but little occasion to sit down and actually write about them.  Now where's the fun in that, you ask?   No fun.  Just a few extra pounds.  Boo.

Barreling down Beverly Drive the other day to finish up some weekend errands, I was pleasantly shaken out of my cookie coma by this little trio of toothless bandits:

Pretty cute.   Ate the entire box of Samoas on the way home, then poured the Tag-A-Longs in the trash and doused them with yellow mustard.

I'm back!
